I promised - or threatened with - to scribble down my thoughts on the new James Bond movie, so here we go. ;)
In short: I loved it.
And in detail... The new Bond: I was one of those who peered at Daniel Craig with scepticism, even though I'm not a huge or even a normal fan of the Bond series. But I think he's more than proved fitting for the role. I like his Bond, that he - as
takayajd put it - is no Superman, tougher, edgier, not perfect. At the same time witty and charming. (The sequence where he's chasing the first man with the bomb? That bad guy that's hopping about like a bunny? Loved how that human toad elegantly jumped around and over barriers and Bond just ran through.)
Vesper Lynd: Eva Green looks stunning all the time! And being no expert I think her acting was great. She's the first Bond Girl (or rather woman) that I really cared about, that wasn't just a pretty sidekick (not even Halle Berry managed that in my opinion). She really felt equal to Bond while they didn't have to turn her into a leather clad modern Xena. Loved the shower scene.
The movie was all in all very entertaining and kept me interested until the end. The twists were nice, though there's what I didn't like: The change of the main bad guy inbetween. They established Le Chiffre through most of the movie and then he gets shot just like that and you see that he wasn't the main villain. The problem is that you barely see the new bad guys, which makes the fight in Venice a bit tiring to watch, cause it's difficult to tell whom Bond is thrashing right now. Loved the bitter ending and his last lines, though.
I definately liked it enough to make icons out of it, so here we go ;).
