Icontutorial #6 ~ Farscape for PS CS

I finally got around to write that tutorial I was 'offering'. Well, mainly cause I had one of those rare incidents where I saved the .psd ;). I'll try to explain everything the best way I can, but it might be difficult for PS newbies. Maybe.
Unlike otherwise stated the textures used are by Tre.
Thus...
How to go from this to
Step 1 - The base
I resized the pic to width=100px, set the Canvas size to 100x100px (the anchor should look like this) and smudged around until I had this:

Duplicate the base and set it to screen.
Step 2 - The colouring
Paste this texture on the top and set it to color burn.

Duplicate it and set it to color, 30% opacity.
Take the next texture and set it to multiply.

The third and last texture, set to soft light.

Duplicate it.
Duplicate the base, drag it to the top, desaturate it and set it to soft light.
Add some random tiny text in white on a new layer.
That's how it looks so far:

This was a tad too orange for my liking, so I proceeded:
Add a new layer set to exclusion and fill it with #010717.
Add this gradient by
noldo_icons, set to difference, 20% opacity.

Duplicate the desaturated soft light version of the base and drag it to the top. Erase everything but John and the woman (who is that btw? lol).
Finally, create a selective color layer (Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Selective Color - Black) and increase the black to something between 10% and 100%, whatever looks best.
And that's it:
