I really didn't want to fall into the habit of only posting when there's bad or sad news, but I can't just not post this...
I had to say goodbye to Pityu today. The last few days he was getting worse. He barely could walk or stand anymore and he looked just so weary. So we took him to the vet and he was put gently to sleep. I know it was the right decision, but even though I knew this day would come - he was around 19 years old after all - it still hurts quite a lot. I want to cuddle him. I expect him to traipse around the corner any minute. He was with me half my life and it's just so strange to think he's not there anymore.
Sleep well, my little teddy bear. I'll miss you so much.

So sorry for your loss! But, wow, 19 is an impressive age to reach for a dog. I'm glad you were able to have such a loving, loyal, wonderful friend for that time. I'm sure he was very happy with you. <3

Es ist echt schlimm, wie weh so ein Abschied tut. So wie du sagst, man glaubt immer, unsere Lieblinge kommen demnächst um die nächste Ecke nur um zu schauen, was du so machst. :(
Den Schmerz kann ich dir leider nicht nehmen, aber es wird irgendwann leichter an ihn zu denken und zu lächeln.
Dein Pityu hatte wundervolle 19 Jahre an deiner Seite und da sind bestimmt ganz viele schöne und lustige Erlebnisse dabei.
Ich wünsch dir ganz viel Kraft für die nächsten Tage. *knuddelt fester*

I am beyond devastated for you. I know what Pityu meant to you and how much you loved him ... and so did he. He had a wonderful, loved, full life with you. He couldn't have hoped for a better family.
You did the right thing. It's the last, kind thing we can do for them. It will always hurt but you'll find a way to be okay with it.

We had to put down our dog Sandy last year she was 4 and that was devastating. Then in the same year we had to put down our Monte the 16 year old kitty. He was with us such a long time :(
I know the pain and its so horrible. I hope your heart heals quickly

For a while, I was seeing him everywhere and expected to see his eyes glowing in the dark in the usual places he would hang in
They aren't just pets, they're family.
